Supported Formatting

Behaview uses the same rich text editor for playbook pages, Session Plan agendas and notes, development plans, skill descriptions, and AI Coach instructions and context. Content is Markdown underneath, so the usual syntax works as you type it, and what you write stays readable if it is ever exported or read by an AI tool.

There are two ways to reach the formatting rather than typing it:

  • Use the toolbar above the editor. Where an editor hides its toolbar, select text for a floating bar of the inline options instead.
  • Type / for a menu of the blocks you can insert. Keep typing to filter it.

Available in every editor.

WhatHow
Headings#, ##, ### and so on, or the / menu for levels 1 to 3.
Bold, italic, underline, strikethroughThe toolbar, the usual keyboard shortcuts, or **bold** and _italic_.
Lists- for bullets, 1. for numbers, / for a checklist. A list can usually be switched to another type, at any depth.
Quotes> at the start of a line.
LinksPaste a URL onto selected text, or use the toolbar’s link button.
CodeBackticks for inline code, or a fenced block from the / menu. Blocks are syntax highlighted.
TablesThe / menu inserts a 3x3 table with a header row.
CalloutsCallout in the / menu, then pick Note, Tip, Important, Warning or Caution from the list at its top. Typing >[!NOTE], >[!TIP] and so on also works, with no space after >.
Horizontal rule---, or the / menu.

A few shorthands are rewritten as you type: -> and <- become arrows, -- becomes an em dash, and << >> become guillemets. Nothing else is auto-corrected, and none of it fires inside code or a diagram.

WhatHow
ImagesPaste or drag one straight in, or pick a file from the / menu. You can add images to playbook pages, Session Plan agendas, Observation Notes and Supervisor Notes, skill descriptions, and AI Coach instructions and context.
Mermaid diagramsA fenced block tagged mermaid renders as a diagram, or choose Mermaid Diagram from the / menu. Wide ones are scaled to fit, and the expand control opens them full screen to zoom and scroll.
YouTubePaste a video URL.

A Mermaid block is written as an ordinary fenced block with the language set to mermaid, so this:

```mermaid
flowchart LR
Baseline --> Intervention --> Maintenance
```

renders as:

flowchart LR
  Baseline --> Intervention --> Maintenance

See the Mermaid syntax docs for the diagram types available.

WhatHow
Playbook pagesType [[ and search. The link renders as a chip. When you are reading, the chip opens the page; while you are editing, it opens a menu with Go To and Remove.
PeopleType @ and pick someone. The mention shows their current name, so it stays right after a rename.
Question setsThe / menu, in a Session Plan’s agenda while you plan it, or in a Session Plan type’s default agenda, where question sets are turned on for your organization. A line that holds only the card is what asks that question set in the session.
BadgesThe / menu. A small label for tagging a line, for example a status or an owner.
CommitmentsThe / menu. A checklist item badged as something the person is committing to.

Content written in an editor that had a block yours does not still renders wherever it is read. A mention of somebody who has since left shows greyed out, and a playbook link keeps the page title it was written with.
